8-10+ inches of hair growth in one year ~ Naturally
Read on to find out how…
My hair has been getting a lot of attention lately, and here is a little breakdown of some of the key things I have incorporated into my lifestyle that have made a difference.
For the past few years I have kept my hair about medium length (about a few inches past my shoulders). I used to have long hair when I was younger and I decided to give it a go again. The following are things I have been doing throughout the year to promote hair growth.
Disclaimer: No vitamins, supplements, or other unnatural substances were taken to achieve hair growth. Also no hair extensions are worn in either picture above.

Ok, here we go:

1. The first thing I began doing is washing hair less! Dry shampoo has become my best friend. I wash my hair every 4-5 days now. It took me a few weeks to get used to it, but the longer I kept doing it the less oily my hair became. I noticed a big difference in my hair when I began doing this.

2. Try a hair mask or overnight treatment 2-3x a week! Not only does this make my hair so strong and shiny, but it helps keep my hair hydrated and prevent breaking!
Love this overnight treatment: Perfect Hair Day Night Cap
Hair Mask: Bumble and Bumble

3. Massage your scalp before you wash your hair or before bed for 3-5 minutes. This helps increase blood flow and reactivate hair follicles which increase hair growth.

4. Ditch your mousse, hair spray and teasing comb. This is something I wanted to test on myself because I heard that hairspray as well as teasing your hair may lead to hair loss. I stopped using mousse, hair spray and teasing for about a year (unless its a special occasion like birthdays or new years). I basically keep my hair very minimalistic on the daily and try not to damage to with anything (no curling irons or flat irons either unless its a special night out).

5. Food, food and food! Skip the supplements! Get all of your vitamins and minerals from foods like salmon, avocado, dark leafy greens, eggs and other high protein foods, walnuts and hazelnuts. I was really curious if vitamins like biotin and viviscal would help, but I decided to try the au naturale route ever since I became a vegetarian. The biggest thing I have changed about my diet is becoming a vegetarian about a year ago. I am not saying you must be a vegetarian but try including more raw fruits and vegetables in your diet. And remember that no vitamin or supplement can be replaced with a supplement alone. A healthy diet is key.

6. Brush your hair often to prevent tangling! This is my biggest pet peeve about my hair, and I carry a brush with me everywhere I go. I also love using detangling sprays almost everyday.

Love this one

7. Use a wide comb to brush wet hair to prevent breakage. Hair is at its weakest when it is wet, so a wide brim comb will help detangle long locks.

8. Get a trim about every 8 weeks just to sweep off those little split ends and prevent breakage and thinning tips.

9. Sleep with a loose braid. Now, I dont do this every night, but about 3-4 times a week. I used to sleep with a tight bun, but this actually promotes breakage, so now I try to sleep with a big loose braid to keep my hair together, prevent tangling, and breakage.

10. Keep it simple, don’t do your hair on days you have nothing going on, keep it simple with a quick braid, natural waves, ora sleek ponytail. This helps you prevent unnecessary damage and stress to your hair and scalp.

11. Coconut oil mask once a month for moisture. Apply melted coconut oil to hair, concentrating on the ends. Leave on for an hour or braid hair and leave overnight and shampoo in the morning. Hair will be so silky and soft.

The following are all the hair products I currently use and have been loving over the past year:

1. Kerastase Initialiste: Recommended to me by my hair stylist last year to prevent hair loss and help activate hair follicles for growth. I apply this on my scalp before I dry my hair once a week after I shower.

2. Oribe Split End Seal: Magic in a bottle basically for anyone who has split ends.

3. Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil Primer: This stuff is my favorite. I spray it unto damp hair for protection, but also throughout the week when my hair gets dryer to give it body, shine and softness. If you don’t own this and you love medium to long hair then you are missing out. This product works amazingly well as a hair detangler too (which has been my biggest issue for the past few months).

I hope this is helpful!
Thanks for stopping by!
