Paris is always a good idea..

I wanted to share a bit about our Paris trip we took last summer for our third wedding anniversary.  First and foremost, it was literally a dream to visit France. Ever since I was a little girl I dreamt of seeing the Eiffel Tower and stroll through the streets of Paris munching on macarons and baguettes. To my surprise that is exactly what we did. Everyday we would explore the city by foot and purposely get lost to find hidden treasures.

Here are some places to see: Eiffel Tower (of course!), Champs-Elysees (the main shopping attraction, while your there check out the Arc de Triomphe), Notre Dame (and then walk to the love bridge to place a love lock, if they will still let you!), The Louvre (this museum requires a day of its own), Pont Alexandre III (the beautiful famous white and gold bridge – you will see it in my gallery), Palace of Versailles (this requires a day trip because the palace is so large, and the grounds surrounding are breathtaking).

Places to eat: When it comes to food, Paris is filled with little restaurants and cafes on every corner. Here are a few that we went to and loved: Laduree (my favorite brunch spot – do yourself a favor and try the eggs benedict!), eat at the Eiffel tower (..if you can make reservations 3-6 months in advance – we didn’t unfortunately), L’Avenue (great place for lunch if you are shopping in the area), and if you want a fine dining experience with a view reserve: Ciel de Paris – you wont regret it, I promise! 🙂

Where we stayed: We were looking for a hotel that was modern, near the Eiffel Tower, and potentially had a view. We stayed at the Pullman Eiffel Tower and this hotel exceeded my expectations. We came to Paris not knowing what to expect, but the rooms were a great size, the style was clean and modern, and the balcony view was unbeatable. I’m excited to say that this hotel is also very affordable. Overall I would give this hotel 4.5/5 stars, and we will definitely be staying there again.

    • Hi there, we stayed for a week and I felt like that was enough time. I think even 5-6 days in just Paris alone is plenty. I wouldn’t go for 2 days if you are combining cities because after about 3-4 days we finally got used to things, and began to learn which areas to stay in, eat in, shop in…etc.

  1. This is incredible. Maybe for my 3rd anniversary we’ll go visit as well. How were the food prices?

    • Thank you, Paris was incredible! The food prices are slightly higher then they are in America. But it also depends where you want to eat. If you want a fine-dining experience from breakfast-dinner then it can definitely add up, but there are millions of cafes to lunch in, and we bought baguette sandwiches, fruit and dessert and picnicked by the eiffel tower (it was more romantic that way).

  2. Victoria, which hotel would you recommend? We want to stay close to Eiffel Tower. Is there something for about $200 per night?

    • I am not sure if you will be able to find a hotel for about 200 a night by the eiffel tower, but if your dates are flexible you can play around with the dates and see if the price goes down. I really liked everything about the Pullman Eiffel Tower but I did hear that the Mercure Eiffel Tower is also pretty good. When I compared the two, the Pullman had a balcony viewing the eiffel tower and the rooms were larger, so it was an easy decision from there.
I am going to attach the info for the Mercure here: http://www.mercure.com/gb/hotel-2175-mercure-paris-centre-eiffel-tower-hotel/index.shtml
Overall, I found that for the money the Pullman was incredible. Anything else my the eiffel tower will run you a fortune and in my opinion its just not worth it.
The balcony at the Pullman was also a great place to go to after dinner and have coffee in the room (nespresso – which they refill daily) and watch the eiffel tower twinkle in lights.

  3. Hello your photos are fabulous. My family is planning a trip there in May. Would you say exploring Paris with a toddler is possible (as for site seeing and places to eat?)

    • Hello Nataliya,
Thank you for your compliment, and I think Paris with a toddler is absolutely possible. In Paris, you will be doing a lot of walking so I highly suggest you bring a good stroller with you. Finding a place to eat in will be super easy as well since there are hundreds of cafes on every block (and a lot of cafes outdoors). If you want to try fine dining in the evening – it may be more difficult with a toddler but not impossible. Also a huge suggestion is when you are out exploring keep your personal belongings in a small purse (or wallet on a chain) close to you, and in front of your body. Parisians are master thieves. If you have any more questions feel free to ask 🙂 !
