10-Minute Bob tutorial for Long Hair

Although we are still fighting blizzards in NY, my mind is already on Spring. Every Spring I look for something new, fun and fresh whether it’s a piece to add to my closet, or a fun new hair style/color. This year I am not cutting or coloring my long locks but I though it would be fun to play with a faux bob hair style. This hairstyle takes about 10 minutes from start to finish. Hope you enjoy!

What you will need for this tutorial:
– hair brush
– curling iron is optional
– bobby pins 10-15
– hairspray
– simple hair braiding skills
– small clear plastic elastics [optional]

Step 1: Section your hair into 7 parts (super thick hair may need more sections). I parted 3 bigger sections in the back, and 2 smaller sections on the sides (not including my bangs). [Optional: You can curl your hair with a 1 1/4 inch curling iron to create waves prior to sectioning]. If you have shorter hair pieces in the front this will make your bob look more realistic.

Step 2: Take each section and make a simple braid only towards the end, about 2-3 inches in length (depending on your hair length). Hairspray the braid part only to prevent flyaways and if you like you can tie it with your elastic.

Step 3: Grab a bobby pin or two.

Step 4: For really long hair you can loop your braid 1-2 times to create a little circle, then using your bobby pin secure the loop behind your ear.

Step 5: Secure each section using the same method. Larger section may need more bobby pins. I found that securing each section with 2-4 bobby pins criss-crossed worked perfectly.

Step 6: Once all sections are pinned you can fluff out your bob by lightly pulling on sections to allow your waves to come through and create more texture. Hair spray if you wish.
